ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Cliff Keen Wrestling Club has added Wolverine alum Will Lewan to its freestyle roster, the club announced on Thursday (May 16). A three-time All-American at Michigan, Lewan is also a Cadet world champion and has captured multiple age-level national titles in freestyle.

“We are excited to keep Will at Michigan and to continue working together as he embarks on this next chapter of his wrestling career,” said Michigan head coach Sean Bormet. “His skill set translates exceptionally well to freestyle, and he has achieved tremendous success at various age levels over the years. I’m eager to see what he can accomplish at the senior level.”

“I’m thrilled to continue my wrestling journey with the coaching staff and athletes at the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club here in Ann Arbor,” said Lewan. “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to compete in freestyle.”

Lewan was a three-time All-American at 157 pounds as a Michigan student-athlete (2020-24), earning NWCA Second Team All-America honors after the canceled 2020 championships before placing fifth at the 2022 NCAA Championships and eighth in 2023. He earned top-three finishes in each of his final three Big Ten Championships appearances, including runner-up finishes in 2022 and 2024. He compiled a 97-38 career record and went 43-12 in duals. Over his tenure, he contributed to the Wolverines’ 2022 Big Ten team championship and three top-five NCAA finishes.

Lewan has several age-level world and national accolades in the international styles. As a prep wrestler, he captured the 69kg freestyle title at the 2017 UWW Cadet World Championships after sweeping the freestyle and Greco-Roman titles at the world team trials. He also claimed the 152-pound freestyle title at the 2017 Junior Nationals and was a five-time Fargo All-American. More recently, Lewan claimed the U23 freestyle crown at 70kg at the 2020 U23 National Championships.
