ORAN, Algeria — The Cliff Keen Wrestling Club’s Myles Amine captured 86kg gold, while Stevan Micic and Malik Amine won bronze at 65kg and 74kg, respectively, at the Mediterranean Games on Tuesday (June 28) at the EMEC Hall.
Myles Amine claimed his the second international gold of 2022 — on the heels of his first ever European championship in March — with a 4-0 record and a 4-1 win over Turkey’s Fatih Erdin in the final. Trailing 1-1 on criteria in the second period, Amine scored three unanswered points with a takedown and a stepout against the 2018 world silver medalist. Amine also earned a quality win with a 6-1 first-round decision against France’s Akhmed Aibuev and a pair of 10-0 techs.
Micic earned his second Mediterranean Games medal, adding to his 2018 bronze at 65kg, with a 2-1 record and a 4-0 victory against Turkey’s Munir Recep Aktas in the bronze-medal match. Micic held a narrow one-point lead through the break before using a takedown and a stepout to ice it in the second.
Malik Amine captured his first ever international medal with his performance at 74kg, using a wild late comeback to score six unanswered points and defeated Italy’s Jacopo Masotti, 6-4, in the bronze-medal match.
