ANKARA, Turkey — Matt Gentry, a friend and frequent visitor to the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club, captured the 74kg/163-pound gold medal at the Yasar Dogu International on Friday (Feb. 10) at the Ankara Atatürk Sports Hall.
Gentry posted a 6-0 record over international competition, sacrificing just one period while outscoring his opposition by a combined 33-6 margin. He defeated three Turk wrestlers in his final three matches, earning a 1-0, 1-0 decision over Demirtas Soner in the 74kg championship.
It was Gentry’s second medal performance on his current international tour, adding to his bronze at last week’s Dan Kolov tournament (Feb. 3-5) in Sophia, Bulgaria.
